Step 1 — Fabric Identification and Pre-Treatment Assessment

We identify the upholstery fabric type from the care label and visual inspection: cotton, linen, microfibre, velvet, polyester, wool, leather, or blended. Each requires a different cleaning method. We test our cleaning solution on a hidden area first for colourfastness and shrinkage. Stains are categorised (protein, tannin, oil, dye, unknown) and treated with the appropriate pre-treatment.

Step 2 — Dry Vacuum and Soil Extraction

We vacuum all sofa surfaces using upholstery attachments — cushions removed and cleaned individually. All crevices, seams, and decorative buttons are vacuumed. Pet hair is removed using rubber extraction tools before wet cleaning begins. For velvet and suede, dry vacuuming is the primary cleaning method — wet cleaning is not appropriate for these fabrics.

Step 3 — Wet Extraction or Dry Cleaning

For cotton, linen, microfibre, and polyester sofas, we use low-moisture hot water extraction: our handheld extractor tool injects heated solution into the fabric and immediately recovers it with dissolved soil, bacteria, and allergens. The sofa remains only slightly damp and dries within 2–4 hours. For velvet, silk, or unknown-content fabrics, we use dry foam cleaning — applied and extracted without any water penetrating the backing.

Step 4 — Deodorization and Protection

After cleaning, we apply an anti-bacterial deodorizer to neutralize any remaining odour at the source. On request, we apply a fabric protector (equivalent to Scotchgard) that bonds to fibres and creates a stain-resistant barrier, making future cleaning easier. We provide drying time guidance — typically 2–4 hours with good airflow.
